On top of the engine improvements, the 2019 Continental GT has other visible differences. The vehicle is 220 to 286 lbs less than the previous version but still weights a total of 5,000 lbs. The body of the vehicle is about ½” wider and similarly longer. The wheels on the new GT will sit 4.1” farther forward than on the current design. This leads to a front weight reduction down to a 55% front-to-rear ratio. Lastly, the GT will sit atop Pirelli P Zero tires.

That is quite a list of adjustable features on this car. The 2019 GT will have 4 car modes: comfort, sport, custom, and Bentley. As expected, comfort leads to a comfortable ride while sport leads to a sportier ride. The custom option allows the driver to choose options individually to their preference. Lastly, the Bentley mode is the setup favored by Bentley’s engineers.
Semi-Autonomous Steering Capabilities
The 2019 Continental GT will also have semi-autonomous steering capabilities. This is far from a full out autonomous vehicle but a move towards that direction for the future. The vehicle also has smart LED headlights that can adjust beams to prevent other drivers from being blinded on the road. On the inside, there is a 12.3” infotainment touch screen. In addition, the vehicle has a compass, timer, and exterior temperature gauge.
Priced at Slightly Over $200,000
As expected, the 2019 Continental will be for sale at a hefty price of slightly over $200,000. The vehicle should be arriving to market sometime in mid-2018. Between the powerful W12 motor and the technology advancements, this will be the best GT yet. Hitting high speeds and maneuvering through turns will not phase the new Continental GT. Overall, the 2019 Bentley Continental GT is a beautiful, stunning vehicle that will display prominently on the roadways.

100,000 Auto Insurance Claims by September 3, 2017
Hurricanes are storms well known for their destructive power between flooding, rain, and wind. Unfortunate for many, tens of thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed. As of September 3, 2017, there had been 100,000 auto insurance claims due to Harvey alone. Harvey is estimated to have destroyed between 300,000 and 500,000 vehicles that were in its path. Only a portion of those vehicles have requested insurance coverage but that is expected to increase dramatically moving through September. On the other hand, Hurricane Irma hit not too long after wreaking havoc on the keys and Florida’s west coast, damaging hundreds of thousand cars itself.

Hurricane Harvey destroyed more cars the Hurricane Katrina in 2005 or Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Honestly, Hurricane Harvey may have caused more damaged vehicles than both of those storms combined. Hurricane Katrina damaged 200,000 cars while Hurricane Sandy damaged 250,000 cars, a total of 450,000. If the 500,000 estimate is more correct, this one storm had double the destructive power. In Houston, the 4th largest city in America, an estimated 94.4% of households own a vehicle according to Cox Automotive.
One of Worst U.S. Hurricane Seasons on Record
As one of the worst hurricane seasons on record in history, the 2017 season wreaked havoc for many. From damaged homes to vehicles, Hurricane Harvey caused an estimated $75-95 billion in damages. At this point, the areas effected are beginning to return to what was once “home” to begin rebuilding and move forward. One of the best options for each of these locations would be to evaluate storm protocols and systems to implement better protection for their citizens. In the end, the survivors of these hurricanes need support to turn their destructed land into home once again.
At the 2017 Frankfurt International Auto Show, Mercedes-AMG revealed the Project One Hypercar. At $2.8 million MSRP, the Project One is a formula-1 inspired hypercar. After long speculation of a Mercedes hypercar, Mercedes-AMG did not disappoint. With production beginning in 2019, the vehicle will be limited to 275 units which are already sold out. Surprisingly, the Mercedes-AMG Project One Hypercar may not sport the motor system you were expecting.
1.6-Liter Turbocharged V6 & Electric Motor Combination
Unlike the Bugatti Chiron that has 1500 horsepower via a 8.0-liter W16 motor, the Mercedes-AMG Project One will sport a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 and electric motors. With the 8.0-liter W16, the Chiron can shed a 26 gallon tank of gasoline in 8 minutes flat… phew! Although the Project One has a much smaller motor, it can hit 0-60 mph in only 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 217 mph. The V6 motor itself producing around 700 horsepower with a 11,000 rpm limit. The three electric motors produce 500 horsepower themselves, leading to ~1,200 horsepower total.
Mercedes-AMG Project One Electric Motors
The electric motors act in a multitude of ways on the Project One. First, there is one electric motor located at each of the front wheels. The third electric motor is within the engine bay. A fourth electric motor spins the turbocharger so there is never lag when acceleration is necessary. Another benefit to this overall electrical setup is that the plugin hybrid system allows for torque vectoring. On the hybrid drive system alone, the Project One can complete 20 miles silently for those late night cruises.
The Project One was engineered with a lightweight carbon fiber body. Furthermore, Carbon wheels and carbon ceramic brakes complement the body. The front and rear spoilers are active which help with cornering. Although expected with other Mercedes models, automation is not an option on this vehicle. Another difference is that the doors open forward then up rather than directly outwards.
The Project One’s body has adequate intakes and vents to keep the motor cool and breathing well. On the interior, it looks like a F1 car with a passenger seat. The steering wheel has multicolored buttons and dials. On the dash, there are dual 10 inch hi-resolution LCD screens. The rear view mirror system is camera based rather than simply a mirror.

Overall, the Mercedes-AMG Project One Hypercar is a brand new addition to the highly collectible cars realm. With a combination of electric and fuel, this car can compete with the best of the best. The top speed may not be as high as some competitors but for a V6 and electricity, it speaks for itself. The carbon fiber body, wheels, and brakes make for an authentic racing appearance. In the end, if you were able to pay $2.8 million for one of 275 units, you are one lucky car collector.
