The All New 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

For the 2018 model year, Mercedes-Benz will be introducing a facelifted Sprinter, also to be known as the V-Class. The last update occurred in 2014, so this vehicle has some new modern features. There have been spy shots of the vehicle in testing showing a new front and interior. This time, it will not share a platform or body with the 2018 Volkswagen Crafter. It should make its debut in late 2017 or early 2018.

Engine Basics & Vision Van Concept

With slightly under 200 horsepower, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz V-Class will sport 4WD. There is a view that Mercedes-Benz will likely release a 2.0-liter turbo engine as well as a 3.0-liter V6 motor. There is also talk of a possible electric version due to the Vision Van Concept which sported an electric motor with 100 horsepower. The top speed will be between 80-90 miles per hour and 0 to 60 is expected to take around 11 seconds.

Driver Assist Package & Other Positive Traits

In the vehicle, there will be a driver assist package as well as a few other positive traits. The fuel economy and performance are expected to increase over the previous model. Surprisingly, the United States has the second largest market for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This led to a decision to develop a new plant in Charleston, South Caroline for production of this vehicle. This will increase job availability in the city allowing for a U.S. employed foreign factory. This helps people in need of jobs find positions with a respective company and will also benefit their local economy.

The V-Class May Be The New Sprinter

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, or so called V-Class, should be available within the next 6 months. There is discussion of there different model: cargo, extended cargo, and passenger. The MSRP should be in the low $30k range in U.S. currency. The vehicle should also be able to tow around 5-7.5k pounds. Overall, the new 2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will pave the way for modern cargo and passenger vans.
