Marijuana: Simply Put, Don’t Smoke & Drive!

Marijuana: Simply Put, Don’t Smoke & Drive!

The Legalization of Marijuana

In recent years, Washington, D.C. and 10 states have legalized recreational use of cannabis, also known as marijuana. In these states, it is legal to consume the product and carry up to a certain amount (i.e. one ounce). For some states, growing plants at home is also legal, but refer to local law before doing so. While marijuana should be legal for adults 21+ nationwide, there are quite a few things to pay attention to, such as driving. Drugged driving is a major issue in the United States, causing unexpected individuals fines and jail time. Simply put, don’t smoke marijuana then drive. As of November 2018, the locations where cannabis can be used legally are:

  1. Alaska
  2. California
  3. Colorado
  4. Maine
  5. Massachusetts
  6. Michigan
  7. Nevada
  8. Oregon
  9. Vermont
  10. Washington
  11. Washington, D.C. (U.S. Capital)

The Effects on Operating a Vehicle

Although marijuana can be safely consumed at home, a handful of people have a misconception of driving while high. According to the U.S. Government, 2-5 ng/mL of THC can cause substantial driving impairment. And, even more so in occasional smokers. While on cannabis, a driver is two-fold likely to have an accident. Although high drivers tend to drive slower due to the drug, the control deteriorates, especially in increasingly complex situations. Research has shown that the effects include:

  1. Cognitive Impairment
  2. Diminished Perception of Vehicle Controls
  3. Divided Attention
  4. Poor Lane Positioning or Weaving
  5. Reaction Time Reduction

Not surprisingly, using alcohol with marijuana increases the likelihood of an accident even higher. This can cause a driver to have worse lane control and slower reaction times, while driving faster due to alcohols diminishing effect on fear.

Driving High Isn’t Worth It!

The Try Guys Test High Driving – YouTube

Simply put, driving high isn’t worth it! Don’t smoke marijuana and drive! While marijuana may be legal in D.C. and 10 states, each of these locations enforces drugged driving laws. This means that if you’re caught high on marijuana operating a vehicle, you may be arrested or fined. Is it really worth it? Definitely not. Simply place an order online for food via one of the modern ordering apps. This way, you can relax at home while the carrier brings your munchies supplies. Overall, marijuana legalization is a positive move forward, but only if humans respect it, just like alcohol and other impairing drugs.

1962-1965 Peel P50: The World’s Smallest Automobile

1962-1965 Peel P50: The World’s Smallest Automobile

2010 Guinness World Record

In 2010, The 1962-1965 Peel P50 was declared “The World’s Smallest Production Car”. The Peel P50 is a three-wheel microcar with enough space for “one adult and one shopping bag” (advertisement by Peel in 1960s). The P50 is the main car by the Peel Engineering Company on the Isle of Man. This “city car” is quite the spectacle, with quite minimal options, and space. But, this car is quite the collectible. The car was initially worth $2,200 in 1963, but recently sold at a Sotheby’s Auction in March of 2016 for $170,000 USD. Furthermore, out of 50 total units produced, only 27 remain. This means that almost half of the P50s are gone.

From inside out, the 1962-1965 Peel P50 is quite a unique vehicle. Beginning with only one door, on the left side, this car stands out to most people. On the front, there is a single windscreen wiper and one headlight. Furthermore, there is no reverse gear, but a handle at the back allows for easy maneuverability. Lastly, the car arrives in three colors: Daytona White, Dragon Red, and Dark Blue.

Under the hood, the Peel P50 sports a 49cc, 4.2 horsepower engine. This motor works in combo with a 3-speed manual transmission. With a top speed of 38 mph, there is no need for a 0 to 60 time! Either way, who the heck would want to go 60 mph in a Peel P50!? Well, The Gamer Society tested this out while obtaining an achievement in Forza Horizon 4! Check out the video above to see it happen. In the video, the car has a much powerful engine, rating it from a D-Class to a B-Class. The mods include a new engine, AWD, racing equipment, and more!

Who Doesn’t Want to Drive a Peel P50?

The Smallest Car in the World at the BBC – Top Gear – BBC – YouTube

So, who doesn’t want to drive a Peel P50? Well, probably quite a few people. This vehicle is very small, so height and weight most likely play a huge role in comfort. When in need to go shopping, just take the Peel P50! Parking will be easy, hauling a single grocery bag may be easy, and safety will be zero to none. Just be sure not to get in a collision in this car, as it probably wouldn’t go well. Otherwise, this car would be fun to take out for a short joy ride. Overall, the Peel P50 is the world’s smallest car, and now the world’s smallest collector vehicle.

Forza Horizon 4: The Next Generation of Forza Video Games

Forza Horizon 4: The Next Generation of Forza Video Games

Another Year, Another Forza Game!

Each year, Microsoft Studios releases a Forza game, switching between Horizon and Motorsport. This year, 2018, the game is Forza Horizon 4. Being the 4th game in the Horizon lineup, it has a lot of expectation. And, fortunately, it has met thus expectation. The game is based in a fictionalized version of the United Kingdom where players can drive through Edinburgh. Although the map isn’t as varied as Forza Horizon 3, this game does not disappoint. With a new style of game layout, this game overhauls the system. The biggest change is the weekly seasons, where players experience everything from the beautiful summer to the cold, icy winter.

Basics About Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 is an open world racing video game. This game was developed by Playground Games and published by Microsoft Studios. Furthermore, Turn 10 helped develop the game. The game came out on October 2, 2018, allowing plenty of time to check it out. With 100% completion and over 80 hours of game time, I can vouch this game is worthy of a purchase. This open world game is constantly online, meaning instead of Drivatars, real people venture around the map. Overall, the game is pretty awesome and another great step forward for the series.

A Strong Presence for European Cars

Forza Horizon 4: Co-Op Racing – The Gamer Society – Live Stream – XVII – YouTube

In Forza Horizon 4, there is a strong presence of European automobiles. Ranging from Alfa Romeo to Pagani, this game includes a splash of them all. There’s nothing like driving a Pagani Zonda Forza Edition down the road. Or, simply take a cruise in a BMW M3. Regardless, it is completely up to the gamer. But, do be wary of the 10,000,000 credit cars that are the crème of the crop. Maybe buy the castle first, then save up for that next. Overall, Forza Horizon 4 is a great release with much more content to come.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR Defeats Aventador SVJ Ring Time

A Victory for Porsche in the Ring!

On October 25, 2018, a modified Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR defeated the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time. With tweaking by Manthey-Racing, the car finished the lap in only 6 minutes and 40.33 seconds. This defeats the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ time of 6:44.97. This makes this car the fastest street car lap at the 12.9-mile Nordschleife.

”In this test drive, we simply wanted to assess the potential of the vehicle once more. The result is quite impressive. It really is a fabulous time. This shows again very clearly the exciting possibilities of this sports car.” – Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Head of Porsche Motorsport

The possibilities of the 911 GT2 RS MR almost seem endless. This car is a beastly machine, and with mods, is even better. Now, let’s take a deeper look into the car!

Modifications by Manthey-Racing

Under the hood, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR is untouched by Manthey-Racing. But, on the exterior, changes are made to improve handling. Starting with a new aero package, this car has a larger wing and dive planes. Next, there is new suspension hardware and magnesium wheels. Furthermore, there are better brake pads, fluids, and stainless-steel lines. But, the engine’s 700 horsepower is plenty to accomplish this feat.

Manthey-Racing’s modifications allowed this car to set the record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This racing team currently runs Porsche’s 911 RSR World Endurance Championship program. On top of this, they offer mods for the Cayman GT4 Clubsport and 911 GT. This company is largely owned by Porsche, making a greater connection. In combination with the expert track driver, Lars Kern, this GT2 RS MR project set the record. This is an amazing feat that will sure be challenged by future models.

The 911 GT2 RS is King of the Ring

New record: 911 GT2 RS MR laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:40.3 minutes. – Porsche – YouTube

In the end, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR is now king of the ring. With such a low time, 6:40.33, this car beat out the Aventador SVJ’s time of 6:44.97. Even crazier, this car did better than the McLaren P1 LM, which had a time of 6:43.2. Furthermore, the P1 GTR is also behind on this number. Now, the new race will aim for a time below 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This should be an interesting battle of the supercar.

Pagani Zonda Tricolore: Tribute to Frecce Tricolori Aerobatic Team

Pagani Zonda Tricolore: Tribute to Frecce Tricolori Aerobatic Team

A Dedication to Italy’s Aerobatic Team

For the 2010 model year, Pagani introduced the Zonda Tricolore, a tribute in design. The Pagani Zonda Tricolore is an honor to Frecce Tricolori, Italy’s aerobatic team. With only three units total, this car is quite a collectible vehicle. The Frecce Tricolori aero team is a team of pilots that can pull amazing stunts across the blue sky. Refer to the video below for a view of their most popular video on YouTube. In concept, the Tricolore takes much away from the Zonda Cinque. But, there is quite a few things that reflect the Tricolori.

Differences from the Zonda Cinque

Pagani Zonda Tricolore – PaganiAutomobili – YouTube

The Pagani Zonda Tricolore does differ from the Zonda Cinque. Although much of the body is similar, there are a handful of things that make it stand out. First, there is a clear blue lacquer paintjob in combo with red, white, and green stripes. Second, there is a small wing behind the cockpit, relating to the tail wing of the Frecce Tricolori Aermacchi MB-339 PAN stunt plane. On a hidden note, the car is 6 mph faster than a standard Zonda. This means it can reach 220 mph! Even though it is not a huge difference, why not hit the next decade of speed.

Another Amazing Zonda Model

Overall, the Pagani Zonda Tricolore is an amazing, new model for the Zonda lineup. For $1.35 million USD ($1.2 million Euros), this car could’ve been yours! Unfortunately, it is long gone, and with only three builds, this car is quite rare. Seeing one of these on the road is like hitting Mega Millions or the Powerball. The Pagani Zonda Tricolore tribute to the Frecce Tricolori is quite a statement by the supercar company. Frecce Tricolori can do amazing things in airplanes, so it is not surprising to dedicate such a fine vehicle to their spectacle. In conclusion, the Zonda Tricolore is another beauty by the Pagani Automobili.

Bugatti Veyron Crash into Lake Leads to Jail Time

Bugatti Veyron Crash into Lake Leads to Jail Time

Driving a Bugatti Veyron into Gulf Bay

On November 11, 2009, Lufkin’s Andy House drove a 2006 Bugatti Veyron into Gulf Bay in the La Marque, Texas region. With unique timing, a spectator filmed the event and posted it on YouTube. Nobody knew that this would change the man’s life for the next few years. Long story short, Andy House was driving down the highway when he veered to the right, right into saltwater. With the engine running, the Veyron motor flooded leading to complete destruction. The story may, or may not, be true, but that was up to the court to decide.

The Insurance Claim Dilemma

Bugatti Veyron Lake Crash—Original Video- 1st hand account – Jomgarza – YouTube

So, obviously, after the accident, the owner submits an insurance claim to the company to fix the vehicle. But, this was not an authentic claim, according to the tape. Lufkin’s Andy House, an exotic car salvage yard owner, will be spending 1 year and 1 day in federal prison. Why? Because the court states that this entire situation is insurance fraud. Furthermore, the defendant plead guilty to the event in the court of law. From a court date in 2009, the 2006 Bugatti Veyron was purchased for $1,000,000 USD, but insured for $2,200,000. This is most likely due to the collectible value of a unique car like the Veyron.

So, as seen above, the claim describes the accident occurring due to a cell phone reach. But, the video seems to tell a different story. Initially, the insurance company did pay the claim, but with YouTube video proof, took it to court. The court system is making the defendant pay back the settlement of $600,000. On top of this, due to insurance fraud, he will spend 1 year and 1 day in federal prison. Furthermore, he will have 3 years of release under supervision. This was definitely not his plan at the beginning of this situation.

One Hell of a Lesson & Story

Bugatti Veyron being fished out of a lake – SkiddMark – YouTube

Overall, this 2006 Bugatti Veyron crash is one hell of a lesson, as well as story. How many people can say that they crashed a Veyron into saltwater? Secondly, how many can say they went to jail for it? Well… not many. This was an unfortunate case of bad decision making that led to repercussions. To finish off the article, let’s make a simple, and important statement. No matter what stage you are at in life, young or old, rich or poor, always ensure to make the right decision. Making the right decision is the best way to go through life, and the wrong decision can lead to unexpected results. Just look at this guy, spending over a year in prison for insurance fraud. In conclusion, don’t crash a Veyron into a lake in the modern era of accessible cameras and YouTube videos.

Recently, Aston Martin shared a post on Instagram displaying the Valkyrie nearing production status. This post is basically a teaser to what is to come in the near future. While it is nearing production, the expectation is late 2019 or early 2020. Currently, Aston plans to build 175 road legal Valkyries, plus 25 track-only versions. Back in July of 2017, Miles Nurnberger made a statement about the Valkyrie:

“… 95% of the way there.” – Miles Nurnberger

It has been quite some time since this statement, but it may be a sign that the Aston Martin Valkyrie is finally ready to consider motion forward. Though, do note, quite a few things are changing for the production version.

Changes to the Valkyrie During Concept Stage

The Aston Martin Valkyrie Instagram post shows a bit of changes since the previous concept. First, there are alloy wheels shown on the car, whereas the previous concept has carbon fiber. But, the car is being offered with that exact optional aerodynamic carbon fiber wheel cover set. Secondly, the exterior has revised side skirts as well as a lighting elements in the vent behind the front wheels. Thirdly, the blue to black paint job is beautiful, but it is most likely in use to cover some of the design. This means there may be more changes to the car that can be seen easily from the photos. Finally, the interior flaunts a few extra buttons and more seat padding. Carbon fiber still governs the interior though.

Who Wouldn’t Want to Own a Valkyrie?

Jump Inside the Aston Martin Valkyrie! | FIRST LOOK – Shmee150 – YouTube

Truthfully, who wouldn’t want to own an Aston Martin Valkyrie? Well… someone. But, most of us car lovers would love to own it. With it’s hybrid drivetrain, this car sports 1,126 estimated horsepower. This is a combo of electric and gasoline elements producing power. The motor itself is a Cosworth 6.5-liter V12 engine. That in itself could make this a hypercar, but electrical motors can take it even further. The Valkyrie will set Aston Martin history as the first hypercar by the company. In conclusion, Aston Martin is really stepping up in the sports car and hypercar realms of the auto industry.

With the Aston Martin DBS 59, the company celebrates a 1959 Le Mans 1-2 victory in the DBR1. Basically, it is a DBS Superleggera, with changes to the exterior. Pricing isn’t clearly known, but there will only be 24 units from production. Hopefully, the correlation between 24 Hours of Le Mans and 24 units of production makes sense. If not, now it should. Each model will receive a small white number next to the side strakes to show which model number.

Differences from the DBS Superleggera

With the Aston Martin DBS 59 being a Superleggera under the hood, this car sports the same 715 horsepower engine. And, yes, it still reaches over 200 mph. But, the exterior sports major differences. Firstly, the car is painted with a British racing green tone. To complement this, there is gloss carbon fiber on the hood louvers, rear valence, roof, roof strakes, and spoiler. To offset this, bronze accents can be seen on the badging, brake calipers, front grille, and wheels. This combination truly symbolizes British racing. What is not to love about that?

Aston Martin DBS 59 - Interior - Manufacturer Picture - EuroDrift

The interior of the Aston Martin DBS 59 is also stunning, just as the exterior. First, there is a tri-tone combo of colors. The seats comprise of brown and black leather. A British racing green trim can be seen to complement this color tone combination. The interior fabric is meant to connect with the past DBR1 model. Furthermore, even crazier, is the fact that the rear compartment holds quite a few specialty items. These include special DBS 59 crash helmets, period-correct blue race overalls, racing gloves, a bespoke two-piece luggage set, and a car cover specific to the model number. So, this ends up being quite the collector piece. Owning the car itself is one thing, but owning all of this other collectible ‘jawns’ is pretty cool.

Some people may even consider selling their Superleggera to upgrade. But, getting one of the 24 units will not be easy. In conclusion, the DBS 59 is another amazing feat of engineering by Aston Martin.

Depending on conditions, specifically temperature, this car may perform even better (i.e. colder weather). On the quarter mile, the SLR McLaren reaches 130 mph at 11.25 seconds. Being from a previous era, this car can still compete with modern sports cars.
