Vision Mercedes Simplex Concept: The New Old
A Retro Vision Concept by Mercedes
Commemorating the first vehicle with the Mercedes brand name, the manufacturer recently designed the Simplex Concept. The Vision Mercedes Simplex Concept is basically a remastering of something old. Originally, the initial Mercedes Simplex was available 118 years ago in 1901. Furthermore, the original vehicle sported a groundbreaking and radical front-engine, RWD, and radiator placement design. While this is taken for granted nowadays, back then, it was a masterpiece of future design. Finally, adding to the reasons this car was conceptualized, the original Simplex won races!
Could Retro Auto Make a Comeback?
So, with the Mercedes Simplex Concept seen by the world, could retro automobiles make a comeback? Unfortunately, there is no absolute definite answer. But, the beauty and design of this car can make one wonder… would a modern market be willing to purchase? Sadly, Mercedes does not plan to product the Simplex Concept for the market. Maybe, with enough support by fans worldwide, one manufacturer may be willing to take the gamble. But, realistically, it’ll definitely require a lot of convincing and data. Either way, EuroDrift gives a +1 to the idea of this happening. It would be awesome to revive older designs with new technology.
Mercedes Showcases the Future of Auto Design
With the Mercedes Simplex Concept, the manufacturer is showcasing the future of auto design. While the old school, retro style may not hit the market soon, the tech will definitely show up as time continues as usual. Honestly, the Simplex Concept is a piece of art, or a sculpture, more than a car anyway. Displaying a rose-gold 3-D script display grill, leather hood straps, and an overnight bag for the trunk, this car is amazing. And, while the car has top of the line tech, it also has very “old school” design accents. So, who doesn’t want to tie down the hood with leather straps? Or store the groceries in the luggage that acts as a trunk? Either way, hopefully other manufacturers will make some cool concepts as well!
