LEGO, known for typical store products as well as large-scale designs, has done it once again. This time, the LEGO Technic design team built a fully functional Bugatti Chiron. Yes, a LEGO automobile that is fully operational! Even furthermore, one that looks exactly like the Chiron sports car. This 1:1 model includes drive functionality via Power Function motor tech from standard LEGO products. Yes, those little electric motors work together to move a full-size vehicle! Although this car would most likely be highly unsafe at any speed, it is quite an amazing feat.

The Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition was a project given to the LEGO Technic team in Kladno, Czech Republic. Here, the LEGO Technic team works on complex models for LEGO stores and LEGOLAND parks. But, making a functional Chiron out of LEGOs was even a test for them. Beforehand, Aurelien Rouffiange and the rest of the design team recently completed a 1:8 scale Chiron for $349.99. So, it was time to step it up to the next level. With 16 specialists ranging from design to mechanical to electrical fields, this project was tackled with 13,438-man hours. Phew! That is quite an investment of labor and time!

The Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition includes over 1,000,000 LEGO Technic elements. This includes 339 different types of elements for the build. Surprisingly, absolutely no glue was used in the assembly process. With a total weight of 3,307 pounds (1500 kg), this weighs as much as an actual car! So, moving a car like this requires a lot of power, even for low speed.

“Under the hood”, the Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition has 2,304 Power Functions motors. Yes, it really does! Next, there are 4,032 LEGO Technic gear wheels. Furthermore, the car fits 2,016 LEGO Technic cross axles. Theoretically, the motors work together to produce around 5.3 horsepower. But, on the other hand, the torque equates to 68 lb.-ft. (92 Nm). That torque is how this vehicle gets going. To make it even more insane, the car has a functional rear spoiler and speedometer, both entirely of LEGOs.

An Engineering Feat for LEGO

Overall, the Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition is quite an engineering feat. At the actual 1:1 scale, this car is quite the spectacle. With LEGO pieces in and out, no one expects to see it roll down the track. Although it may not be fast, it is functional. But, for everyone’s interest, these will not be sold due to liability. Life only knows how many people would try “stupid” stunts while driving one of these. For now, it is best to keep cars like this to the company itself. In conclusion, the LEGO Chiron is beautiful and deserves the utmost respect.

Recently, Bugatti introduced the newest car to their fleet, the Divo. The Bugatti Divo is an exclusive, handling-focused spin-off of the Chiron. Instead of focusing on additional power, the Divo is much nimbler and readier for the track. At a price of $5.8 million USD, the Divo has already sold out of all 40 units. That’s a whopping $232 million in sales for Bugatti, without hesitation. Below, you’ll find out why the Divo differs from the Chiron.

Not surprisingly, the Bugatti Divo sports the powerful 1,500 horsepower quad-turbo W16 motor. The expectation is that this car will hit 60 mph in around 2.5 seconds. Although, the top speed will be 25 mph less than the Chiron at 236 mph due to the handling focus. But, the Divo will be quicker around the track making it a contender for the Nürburgring record. Digging a bit deeper, the Chiron and Divo will have the same brakes and tires, but there are other significant changes.

Differences Between Divo & Chiron

The Bugatti Divo and Bugatti Chiron can be seen as twin brothers in the Bugatti family. One tends to be a bit more powerful, while the other is a bit nimbler. This is mostly due to changes in their “genetic” make-up, which leads to separate performances. Firstly, the Divo has additional wheel camber and retuned steering. Secondly, the Divo has received revised driving modes including Autobahn, EB, and Handling settings.

Thirdly, the Divo sheds weight by dropping a few pounds via lightening parts. This weight loss begins with lighter wheels. Furthermore, there is a carbon-fiber intercooler cover and a lighter audio system. To drop it even further, some sound-deadening material is removed, and storage compartment size is decreased. As per the interior, the Divo has matte carbon-fiber trim, faux suede, specifically designed aggressive bolster seats, and larger paddle-shifters. Overall, these changes make this car quite a unique version of the vehicle.

Unique to the Divo

The Bugatti Divo is a unique vehicle from “head to toe”. This uniqueness begins with the rear grille. The rear grille is made of 3D printed fins, 44 of which light up as taillights. Next, the headlights are different with tiny horizontal LED strips and daylight running lights. These lights give the Divo a very personal look. Finally, the Divo has a French flag design on the front vents behind the fender.

The Divo is Basically the New Diva

The Bugatti Divo is quite a spectacular vehicle, it might as well be the new diva. The exterior attracts attention while the interior is fine-tuned and ready to perform. Hitting markets most likely as a 2020 model, the Divo will rarely be seen by the masses. And, at $5.8 million, plus being sold out entirely, this car is going to be quite a collectible vehicle. In conclusion, the Divo is another masterpiece for Bugatti as it works to build its footprint in the auto industry.
