A Car Collection for the Dreamers
Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the Mexican drug lord behind the Sinaloa Cartel, has quite a car collection. Looking beyond the current criminal investigation, El Chapo has great taste in European cars. But, truth be told, he has been a top drug kingpin since 2003. According to the US Department of Treasury, El Chapo is the “most powerful drug trafficker in the world.” With an estimated net worth of around $4 billion USD, any car could be his with a click of his fingers, kind of like Thanos… well maybe not exactly. Currently, El Chapo is imprisoned and awaiting trial in the US. Moving El Chapo to the US was important due to his history of escaping jail time. This happened in July of 2001 and July of 2015. So, obviously no chances were taken on this arrest.
Top-Notch Mercedes-Benz Collection
El Chapo’s collection of vehicles includes quite an array of amazing Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Starting off with the shining gems, El Chap0 has a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren as well as a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Phew! These two cars individually are enough to pull in dreamers, without the mention of the other. Furthermore, these cars sit alongside a Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. Driving just one of the vehicles listed above is a dream of many. With the cheapest car being a CLA45 AMG at a MSRP of $51k, these vehicles aren’t cheap. At the top end, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren ran around half a million USD. That’s more value than most homes in the US on average.
Two Ducati Motorcycles
Next, El Chapo had quite a nice mini collection of Ducati motorcycles. First, there is the Ducati Monster. Secondly, there is a Ducati Hypermotard 1100. Both bikes offer great escape options in the event of a run. Or, they are also perfect for a cruise around town. Regardless, no one can go wrong with a Ducati bike.
An Armored Volkswagen Jetta
Lastly, beyond the Corvette, GTR, and Viper, is an armored Volkswagen Jetta. Since this is a European website, the American cars will not be covered here. But, the armored VW Jetta will! So, why would El Chapo want an armored VW Jetta, a car that is already not that great? Well, it could be that it is inconspicuous. But, with that kind of net value, that Jetta may pack more under the hood than known. It would be no surprise if it wore a twin-turbo V8 with AWD, the perfect setup to escape. It may become a bit front heavy, but with some balancing and weight reductions, it could be an amazing getaway car.
The Verdict May Not Be Good… But the Cars Are!

Overall, El Chapo is currently facing major jail time in the United States. This means there’s a very high chance that he will not escape again… but nobody truly knows. Although the verdict may not be good, the cars in his collection are amazing. Starting off with a collection of Benz vehicles, that alone is a non-standard set. Imagine waking up everyday to see those AMGs in the garage with two Ducatis and an armored VW Jetta. Furthermore, he had quite a collection of American cars as well including a few armored Jeeps. In the end, his car collection will arise the dreamers.

The Fake Huansu Urus
Through the years, Chinese auto makers have shown a copycat cycle in vehicle design. Previously, these businesses focused on companies such as Land Rover and Porsche. But, now, this contains Lamborghini as well. The Huansu Auto C60 Hyosow is a straight-out Lamborghini Urus copycat. The exterior is strikingly similar, with just enough alterations to have legal protection in China. Unfortunately, China has protective and byzantine copyright laws. This makes it extremely difficult for foreign companies to sue them. An example is when Porsche was attempting to sue Zotye for a Macan copycat. Unfortunately, this didn’t go to plan and the copycat is still on the market in China.
Basic Overview of the Copycat Hyosow
From front to rear, the Huansu Auto C60 Hyosow is a Lamborghini Urus copycat. On the cheap end, this midsize crossover is only 10% of the price. This means a MSRP of between $15,000 and $23,000. Furthermore, on the front, there is a slightly different lower front fascia. As per the roof, the Hyosow has an upright roofline. Notably, there are fewer body creases as if the car underwent plastic surgery. Another difference is the 7” smaller wheelbase. Unfortunately, these differences allow Huansu to avoid copyright concerns in China, whereas in other countries, this would be a crime.
Differences Between Hyosow & Urus
As shown above, the Huansu Auto C60 Hyosow is very similar in style to the Lamborghini Urus. Now, diving a bit deeper, the engine and other features will be in review. Instead of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 650 horsepower, the Hyosow offers two 4-cylinder engine variants. There is a 1.5-liter motor with 150 horsepower and a 2.0-liter engine with 200 horsepower. This is embarrassing in comparison to the Urus engine. But, this is exactly the goal of Huansu… to offer a knock-off “high-end” vehicle.
For the drivetrain, the Huansu will most likely sport FWD. This is also degrading in comparison to the advanced AWD system in the Urus. The Urus even includes multi-terrain settings for off-road capabilities. Furthermore, the Hyosow will offer five and seven passenger configs. Overall, there is no denying the constant auto market plagiarism in China.
Background on Huansu
Huansu, the producer of the Hyosow, is owned by the BAIC Group. Surprisingly, this company is a Chinese state-owned enterprise and holding company for multiple subsidiaries. Simultaneously, this company works with Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz to build cars for the Chinese domestic market. Undoubtedly, this company does not play fair in the design realm. Recently, at the Beijing Auto Show 2018, a copycat of a G63 AMG 6×6 was on display by a Chinese manufacturer. To the dissatisfaction of Euro auto makers, this company continues to thrive in China. Maybe, one day, this company will branch into designing its own vehicles… well, probably not…
“Huansu, No Copying!”
Urus: The world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle – Lamborghini – YouTube
As Dora the Explorer would say, “Huansu, no copying! Huansu, no copying! Huansu, no copying!”. At least, Swiper hopes she would say that. Either way, Huansu needs to “man up” and begin to develop its own vehicles from scratch. Copying other auto makers is degrading and doesn’t make for a good business. Overall, the Lamborghini Urus is still the shining star of the SUV universe and the Huansu can stick it!
Note: Unfortunately, there are no quality videos of the Huansu Auto C60 Hyosow on YouTube.
