A Victory for Porsche in the Ring!
On October 25, 2018, a modified Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR defeated the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time. With tweaking by Manthey-Racing, the car finished the lap in only 6 minutes and 40.33 seconds. This defeats the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ time of 6:44.97. This makes this car the fastest street car lap at the 12.9-mile Nordschleife.
”In this test drive, we simply wanted to assess the potential of the vehicle once more. The result is quite impressive. It really is a fabulous time. This shows again very clearly the exciting possibilities of this sports car.” – Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Head of Porsche Motorsport
The possibilities of the 911 GT2 RS MR almost seem endless. This car is a beastly machine, and with mods, is even better. Now, let’s take a deeper look into the car!
Modifications by Manthey-Racing
Under the hood, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR is untouched by Manthey-Racing. But, on the exterior, changes are made to improve handling. Starting with a new aero package, this car has a larger wing and dive planes. Next, there is new suspension hardware and magnesium wheels. Furthermore, there are better brake pads, fluids, and stainless-steel lines. But, the engine’s 700 horsepower is plenty to accomplish this feat.
Manthey-Racing’s modifications allowed this car to set the record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This racing team currently runs Porsche’s 911 RSR World Endurance Championship program. On top of this, they offer mods for the Cayman GT4 Clubsport and 911 GT. This company is largely owned by Porsche, making a greater connection. In combination with the expert track driver, Lars Kern, this GT2 RS MR project set the record. This is an amazing feat that will sure be challenged by future models.
The 911 GT2 RS is King of the Ring

In the end, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR is now king of the ring. With such a low time, 6:40.33, this car beat out the Aventador SVJ’s time of 6:44.97. Even crazier, this car did better than the McLaren P1 LM, which had a time of 6:43.2. Furthermore, the P1 GTR is also behind on this number. Now, the new race will aim for a time below 6 minutes and 40 seconds. This should be an interesting battle of the supercar.
Lamborghini to Join Hypercar Realm?
Worldwide, rumors of a Lamborghini hybrid supercar are spreading. Currently known as the “LB48H”, the concept was recently shown in summer 2018 at a private event in Italy. Beyond this, there is not much info about the vehicle. The biggest tip so far is a resemblance to the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept. This Terzo Millennio was basically a fighter jet on wheels. So, the LB48H should be quite a spectacular vehicle. Although no information is 100% confirmed, a decent number of tips have hit the auto news network.
Expectations for Production & Delivery
Overall, the Lamborghini hybrid supercar, aka the LB48H, will be arriving before anyone realizes it. As time moves forward, the currently believed production date is quickly approaching. Expectations seem to be that Lamborghini will begin production by the end of 2018. From there, the goal will be to deliver the vehicles by end of 2019 or early 2020. This means it will probably be a 2020 model year. Furthermore, there will be only around 63 units made for market. With this limitation, the car will be quite a collector’s piece. And, at around $2.5 million USD, most people will not be able to afford it, let alone place a down payment the equivalent of a home.
Will Lamborghini Shock the World?
Designing the future: Lamborghini Terzo Millennio – Lamborghini – YouTube
When the Lamborghini hybrid supercar hits markets, it will be a determining factor for the company. With many brands jumping into the hypercar realm, competition is increasing more than ever. So, by joining the market, it will only up the requirements to compete. But, the question is, will Lamborghini be able to beat out Koenigsegg, McLaren, and the other manufacturers? Well… nobody truly knows. But, within the next 2 years, Lamborghini will receive appraise or disapproval from the world. Until then, let’s enjoy the current hypercars already at play.
Note: All of the pictures and video for this article are of the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio Concept. These ARE NOT pictures or video relating to the “LB48H”.
A Car Collection for the Dreamers
Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the Mexican drug lord behind the Sinaloa Cartel, has quite a car collection. Looking beyond the current criminal investigation, El Chapo has great taste in European cars. But, truth be told, he has been a top drug kingpin since 2003. According to the US Department of Treasury, El Chapo is the “most powerful drug trafficker in the world.” With an estimated net worth of around $4 billion USD, any car could be his with a click of his fingers, kind of like Thanos… well maybe not exactly. Currently, El Chapo is imprisoned and awaiting trial in the US. Moving El Chapo to the US was important due to his history of escaping jail time. This happened in July of 2001 and July of 2015. So, obviously no chances were taken on this arrest.
Top-Notch Mercedes-Benz Collection
El Chapo’s collection of vehicles includes quite an array of amazing Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Starting off with the shining gems, El Chap0 has a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren as well as a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Phew! These two cars individually are enough to pull in dreamers, without the mention of the other. Furthermore, these cars sit alongside a Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. Driving just one of the vehicles listed above is a dream of many. With the cheapest car being a CLA45 AMG at a MSRP of $51k, these vehicles aren’t cheap. At the top end, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren ran around half a million USD. That’s more value than most homes in the US on average.
Two Ducati Motorcycles
Next, El Chapo had quite a nice mini collection of Ducati motorcycles. First, there is the Ducati Monster. Secondly, there is a Ducati Hypermotard 1100. Both bikes offer great escape options in the event of a run. Or, they are also perfect for a cruise around town. Regardless, no one can go wrong with a Ducati bike.
An Armored Volkswagen Jetta
Lastly, beyond the Corvette, GTR, and Viper, is an armored Volkswagen Jetta. Since this is a European website, the American cars will not be covered here. But, the armored VW Jetta will! So, why would El Chapo want an armored VW Jetta, a car that is already not that great? Well, it could be that it is inconspicuous. But, with that kind of net value, that Jetta may pack more under the hood than known. It would be no surprise if it wore a twin-turbo V8 with AWD, the perfect setup to escape. It may become a bit front heavy, but with some balancing and weight reductions, it could be an amazing getaway car.
The Verdict May Not Be Good… But the Cars Are!
Narcos | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix – YouTube
Overall, El Chapo is currently facing major jail time in the United States. This means there’s a very high chance that he will not escape again… but nobody truly knows. Although the verdict may not be good, the cars in his collection are amazing. Starting off with a collection of Benz vehicles, that alone is a non-standard set. Imagine waking up everyday to see those AMGs in the garage with two Ducatis and an armored VW Jetta. Furthermore, he had quite a collection of American cars as well including a few armored Jeeps. In the end, his car collection will arise the dreamers.

A Celebration of Exotic Motorsports
In October of 2017, Fabspeed held an open house and exotic car meet event in eastern PA. The Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017 was quite the success. Starting in the morning, vehicles of all types rolled into the event, ranging from BMWs to even a 2017 Ford GT. Fabspeed is an exotic car performance specialist company in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Here, Fabspeed offers aftermarket parts for high-end exotic cars, including Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, and more. While the car meet took place outside, Fabspeed held an open house at the same time, allowing enthusiasts to venture through the 26,000 square foot facility. In this building, Fabspeed contains a manufacturing facility as well as a showroom. Portions of the yearly event include food, live dyno runs, and tech talks.
Breakdown of Exotic Vehicles in Attendance
At the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017, Porsche enthusiasts were in full force. With a large amount of the parking lot full of Porsche sports cars, many other manufacturers still made a presence. The car with the most attention was a 2017 Ford GT. Although this car is not a European vehicle, it is quite the spectacle. Inside out, the Ford GT shines “bright like a diamond”. Furthermore, a McLaren 650S Liberty Walk welcomed guests at the front, being the only one in existence. At first, the car threw us off as it reminded us of the P1. So, we initially thought we were looking at one… that was until we were informed it was a modded 650S. Regardless, this car provides quite the welcome. Finally, EuroPrestige Motors was kind enough to bring out an Alfa Romeo 4C. This car is rarely seen stateside, mostly due to Alfa’s lack of marketing the 4C in the United States.
On the Porsche side, the vehicles ranged from a custom Cayman S to 911 classics to GT3 models. Many Porsche 911 GT3s graced the parking lot, including the additional one on the dyno. Furthermore, in support of McLaren, a MP4-12C Spider made an appearance as well. Guests were event fortunate enough to witness a Lotus Seven, not a typical vehicle at most car meets. There are a few other vehicles to mention, but that will be in the next section.
Dealership Appearances at Event
To no surprise, two dealers brought a few beautiful vehicles to the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017. First, Mercedes-Benz of Fort Washington was kind enough to bring over a SLS AMG. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a beautiful car that was quite stunning at the meet. Second, West German BMW was kind enough to provide a M4 GTS and E30 M3. The BMW M4 GTS can be seen in the video by EuroDrift below. This car has quite a few exhaust options, ranging from quiet to roaring loud.

A Porsche 911 GT3 Roars on the Dyno
During the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017, Fabspeed was kind enough to put a Porsche 911 GT3 on the dyno. This car had a Fabspeed long tube competition race header package… and phew, it was loud! Roaring on the dyno, the epic sound echoed through the facility, bothering ear drums throughout. The best way to see this was with ear plugs, as without, it actually kind of hurt. Driving a car this loud down the road would attract a lot of attention, and possibly the bad kind. Whether this car’s sound is road legal, doesn’t mean it was bad. The car sounds fantastic, like the GT3 beast it is.

Farewell to a Fantastic Day at Fabspeed
Although the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017 is almost a year past, that means there may be an upcoming event in one month (October 2018). So, there’s no reason to be upset. Considering the outcome of the previous event, the next one can only be better. With a large amount of auto enthusiasts in southeastern PA, the cars don’t disappoint. And, absolutely, EuroDrift would love to attend another Fabspeed event. Fabspeed offers high quality engineering for high-end exotic vehicles, making the meets quite unique. Witnessing these cars in person is well worth the venture here from areas around the mid-state area.

Presentation at Pebble Beach 2018
At Pebble Beach Automotive Week 2018 in Monterey, California, Audi revealed the PB18 e-tron. The all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron is a mid-engine high-performance sports car with electric drive. Broad and flat, this car’s inspiration is the track and wind tunnel. Furthermore, this car has absolutely no comfort features or automation. So, unfortunately, it won’t get you from point A to point B automatically. Regardless, this car is no surprise as the auto market aims towards a mostly electric future. With the PB18, Audi didn’t hesitate to show off at Pebble Beach.
Monocoque Shell for Optimal Driver Placement
“We want to offer the driver an experience that is otherwise available only in a racing car like the Audi R18. That’s why we developed the interior around the ideal driver’s position in the center. Nevertheless, our aim was to also give the PB18 e-tron a high degree of everyday usability, not just for the driver, but also for a potential passenger.” – Gael Buzyn, Head of the Audi Design Loft in Malibu
Showing up to Pebble Beach Automotive Week, the PB18 came prepared to impress. Starting with the interior, this car features a monocoque shell. This allows for lateral movement of the driver seat and steering system. So, for the track, the seat can sit in a center position just like the McLaren F1. On top of that, if the driver seat is positioned in a typical spot, such as left or right, a passenger seat becomes available. This is possible due to the by-wire design for the steering and pedal layout. Beyond the interior, the car is made of aluminum, carbon, and multi-material composites. Just these two features, the interior and frame, make this car a true race car.
Three Electric Motors & Quattro
The all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron sports 3 electric motors as well as Audi’s signature Quattro. There is one motor in the front with 201 horsepower and two in the rear with a combined 469 horsepower. This means the PB18 has 671 horsepower total on top of it’s 612 lb.-ft. of torque. With boosting, the car can temporarily jump to 764 horsepower to really put the power down. This power setup allows the PB18 to reach 62 mph in slightly over 2 seconds. Fortunately, for traffic situations, max speed can be limited to increase range. Finally, the rear motors are located between steering knuckles driving one wheel each via half-shaft.
Top-Notch Battery System
To no surprise, the all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron has a top-notch battery system. Starting with the battery itself, it is a liquid-cooled solid-state setup with 95kWh. This allows the PB18 to cover 310.7 miles with WLTP. With an 800-volt charging requirement, this car reaches full capacity in around 15 minutes. That is quick, closing on the gap between gasoline and battery refueling. Furthermore, the battery recovers energy while braking as it is primarily used to slow down the car. The hydraulic brake only functions under heavy braking.
A final note about the all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron is that is can wirelessly charge. Yes, you read that correctly, the PB18 doesn’t need a charger cable. While a charging cable is an option, the car can also charge via induction. To charge cordlessly, this requires the Audi Wireless Charging (AWC) system. For this to work, a charging pad with integral coil is placed on the floor where the car will be parked. This connects it to the power supply. For a deeper understanding, this allows an alternating magnetic field to induce an alternating voltage in the secondary coil fitted in the floor of the car, across an air gap. And no, it will most likely not shock you, as that would be an insane liability for Audi.
A Race Car Suspension System
The all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron sports a race quality suspension. Obviously, the system begins with front and rear independent systems. On the front, there is a push-rod setup. As per the rear, there is the typical pull-rod format. Furthermore, in both cases, this works in conjunction with adaptive magnetic ride shock absorbers. Basically, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro Le Mans racing car serves as the basic architecture for the PB18.
The Future is Here with All-Electric Race Cars
Audi PB18 e-tron – Next-Gen Audi Supercar – YOUCAR – YouTube
With the release on the all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron, the future is here. For years, companies and people were unsure of the electric auto market and any potential it held. Now, most companies realize the truth, that electric power is the way of the future. Not only will this allow for cleaner energy usage, but it will also provide better performance. Each year, more and more beautiful EVs are introduced to market. In conclusion, the Audi PB18 is a vision of what to expect on the market in the near future.
The Formula 1 Ferrari 641
In the 1990 Formula 1 season, Ferrari used the 641, also known as the F1-90. This Formula 1 racing car was the main vehicle of the Ferrari racing team for the entirety of the season. The Ferrari 641’s design is by Enrique Scalabroni and Steve Nichols. Furthermore, Steve Nichols was a McLaren designer who helped the project. With 6 wins during the 1990 Formula 1 season, the Ferrari 641 was competitive with McLaren, but at 10 horsepower less. At high speed, the 641 held its ground regardless of the power difference.
Ferrari Tipo 036/037 3.5-Liter Mid-Engine V12
The Ferrari 641 sports a Ferrari Tipo 036 3.5-liter mid-engine V12. This motor is capable of 680 base horsepower. Furthermore, the engine works in combo with a 7-speed semi-auto transmission. In San Marino, the 641 withheld the number 037 engine instead. This motor works on Agip fuel, a former Italian auto gasoline. To get the power to the ground, the 641 has Goodyear tires. The Ferrari 641, or F1-90, definitely packed the power to compete in the 90s Formula 1 season.
Race Worthy Engineering: Chassis & Suspension
The Ferrari 641 Formula 1 race car was built with a race worthy chassis and suspension. Firstly, the 641’s chassis comprimes a Kevlar and carbon fiber composite monocoque. Next, the suspension differs slightly in the front and rear. Both the front and the rear contain anti-roll bars, double wishbones, and telescopic shock absorbers. In the front, there is push-rod actuated torsion bar springs. On the other end, in the rear, there is push-rod actuated coil springs. Surprisingly, only one 641 chassis is non existent today due to destruction in testing. Lastly, while two remain in museums, four are privately owned by collectors.
A Throwback to 1990 Formula 1 Racing
Ferrari 641/2 – 1990 (Emozione Ferrari) – sagitt76 – YouTube
This Ferrari 641 article is basically a throwback to the 1990 Formula 1 Racing season. Although this vehicle was not the best race car on the track, it still won 6 races. One of these vehicles was also in a famous collision at the Japanese Grand Prix with the McLaren race car. The Ferrari 641 and the McLaren battled it out frequently for whom was the best car. Regardless of who was better, both cars deserve respect from car enthusiasts worldwide. In conclusion, the Ferrari 641 was a beastly feat of engineering that competed with the “crème de la crème” (cream of the crop).
The 1990s Jaguar XJ220
In the first half of the 1990s, Jaguar designed and manufactured the infamous Jaguar XJ220 supercar. This 2-seater supercar was produced from 1992 to 1994 at JaguarSport in Bloxham, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. The XJ220 was limited to only 275 units. Initially, the XJ220 concept has a V12 engine, as anyone expects, but the production version has a smaller motor. Jaguar was initially planning to install a V12 engine in the XJ220 but it wouldn’t have met power goals due to regulations.
3.5-Liter Twin-Turbocharged JRV-6 V6 Engine
The Jaguar XJ220 sports a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged JRV-6 V6 engine. Yes, a V6 rather than a V12… but hold on. The XJ220 V6 boasts a whopping 542 horsepower and 473 lb.-ft. of torque. This allows the XJ220 to hit 62 mph in only 3.8 seconds. This vehicle also completes a quarter mile in only 11.7 seconds. This powerful V6 works in unison with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Guinness World Record Holder for Top Speed in early 90s
In the early 1990s, the Jaguar XJ220 received the Guinness World Record for the fastest production car at the time. A top speed of 212.3 mph was obtained while in Fort Stockton, Texas. After that, the top speed was beat out by the McLaren F1 at 240.1 mph. That McLaren did not have a rev limiter though. Although this record is long forgotten, this car was once a world record holder… respect.
Jaguar XJ220 Pininfarina Edition
In 1995, Jaguar was commissioned to build a special edition called the Pininfarina for the Sultan of Brunei and his brother Prince Jefri. This model differs from the production model in a few ways. First, the Pininfarina has fixed front headlights and enhanced rear taillights. The rear wing was re-designed as well as a new interior package was installed on this car. This model was strictly limited to the receivers, making it a one-of-a-kind supercar. Regardless, all of the XJ220 are truly rare supercars.
Currently Worth Around Half A Million Dollars
Overall, the infamous Jaguar XJ220 supercar was a shining star of its time. With a beastly V6 and a sporty design, this car was up and above sports cars at the time. On the current market, the XJ220 is worth about half a million dollars ($500,000 USD). Not many of these are for sale, so for collectors, now is the time to obtain yours… before it’ s too late. In conclusion, the Jaguar XJ220 is a unique supercar that deserves more respect.
Dubai’s Amazing Police Force Auto Fleet
From its amazing skyline to its unique architecture, the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai has a reputation for extravagance. Consequently, it’s no surprise that Dubai owns an exotic collection of police cars. The police officers drive models such as Aston Martins, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis. The fleet is so amazing that one might just want to break the speed limit in Dubai in hopes of getting to ride in one of these most luxurious cars.
Here are some of the cars driven by the Dubai police:
- Aston Martin One-77
- BMW M6 Gran Coupe
- Bentley Continental GT
- Ferrari FF
- Ford Shelby Mustang Roush Edition
- Lamborghini Aventador
- McLaren MP4-12C
- Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
- Nissan GT-R
Let’s take a closer look at these models and see why they are so special.
Aston Martin One-77
The Aston Martin One-77 is a special addition to the fleet of Dubai’s Police Cars as it comes from a legendary British maker. Only 77 of these luxury cars were released worldwide. The impressive handcrafted materials and beautiful details make the Aston Martin One-77 a thing of immense pride for the owner. With its V12 engine generating a staggering 705 Horsepower, this car hits a top speed of 220 mph. At a price tag of around $1,750,000, this car is an expensive addition, indeed.
BMW M6 Gran Coupe
This legendary car is the tamest of Dubai’s Police cars. However, the ‘M’ badge of the BMW M6 Gran Coupe signifies that it isn’t short on power. This super vehicle is equipped with a 4.4-Litre V8 engine that produces almost 552 Horsepower. It needs only 4.1 seconds to go from 0-62 mph. The limited top speed of the M6 Gran Coupe is 155 mph. Priced at only $117,500 MSRP, this BMW is also one of the least expensive in the fleet.
Bentley Continental GT
The Bentley Continental GT is another British car used by the Dubai Police Department. The superb quality and refinement of this car are the reason behind its worldwide popularity. This handmade vehicle is crafted at the famous Bentley Crewe factory.
The Bentley GT is equipped with a 6.0-Litre W12 that catapults the vehicle to a limited top speed of 200 miles per hour while dispatching the 0-62 miles per hour sprint in less than 5 seconds. This supercar accounts for $198,500, which makes it a relatively cheap addition to Dubai’s police cars.
The exceptional Ferrari FF is maybe the most practical of Dubai’s police cars. The shooting brake body design of this practical supercar offers occupancy for four individuals. Its 651 Horsepower 6.2 V12 engine allows the officers to transport criminals to the station very quickly.
Ferrari especially modified the FF in blue for inclusion in Dubai’s Police Department fleet. This all-wheel drive car can hit speeds of 208 miles per hour, and jet to 62 miles per hours in 3.7 seconds. The Ferrari FF is one of the many supercars used by the Police Department of Dubai, but only the female officers are allowed to drive it.
Ford Shelby Mustang Roush Edition
In comparison to the other models in the fleet, this addition is the least splashy. The design of this ‘pony car’ is more like a cobra, for the Shelby badge uniquely backs up like the cobra’s head. The Ford Mustang Roush is incredibly powerful. It is equipped with a 5.0-litre V8 that produces 575 Horsepower and can achieve 62 mph faster than the Bentley. However, the limited top speed of this car only averages about 147 mph.
The Lamborghini Aventador ranks amongst the finest of Dubai’s Police cars. Its fighter jet physique and insane capabilities make it stand out of the crowd. Boasting a limited top speed of 217 mph, the Aventador can jump from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Its aggressively flared arches and rakish lines give this Lamborghini a matchless presence. This bull produces 690 Horsepower from a 6.5-Litre V12. At a price of $399,500, it ranks as one of the more expensive models in the fleet.
This latest addition to the fleet is state-of-the-art. After the Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin, and Ferrari, the McLarenMP4-12C is the next most expensive patrol car in Dubai.
Its carbon body only weighs 2,879 pounds. Even though this supercar weighs the same as a small Citroen, it can easily outrun any other patrol cars because it is three times more powerful comparatively. The MP4-12C is equipped with 3.8-Litre Twin-Turbocharged Engine that can accelerate to 62 miles per hour from zero in just 3.1 seconds.
The Dubai custom-made MP4-12C carries a ‘2020’ number plate, which is in commemoration of Dubai’s World Expo 2020 bid. The MP4-12C has rather hefty price of $280,000 but it is not the most expensive car of the fleet, that’s for sure.
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
This supercar is a work of art. The sweeping front end and its dramatic gull wing doors make the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG one of a kind. It produces around 600 Horsepower from a 6.2-Litre V8 engine. At top speeds, it can go an amazing 200 miles per hour. The SLS AMG goes from 0-62 mph in only 3.7 seconds. The cost of the Mercedes SLS AMG is slightly more than $200,000.
The Nissan GT-R was added to the Dubai fleet in 2013. This venerable car features a handmade Twin-Turbo V6 engine that is capable of producing 545 Horsepower. The limited top speed of the Nissan GT-R averages 196 mph, making it one of the fastest-running cars in the fleet. The stylish design and stupendous details of this car make it a “wow” car. The base price of the GT-R is around $100,000 which makes it one of the lesser priced additions to the fleet.
Dubai’s Police Cars Make a Statement
There is not another country in the world that boasts a car collection comparable to the one held by the Dubai Police Department. Every car in the fleet can hit 150 mph comfortably. Ironically, though, the Dubai police officers are subject to the same speed limits as the citizens. It seems a shame to waste all of that power.
