To understand how manual and electronic parking brakes work, let’s consider the brakes on a bicycle. When a manual brake is engaged, it pulls on cables that run to the rear brakes. The tension on these cables causes the brake pads to squeeze and stop the wheel.
You can easily see this by squeezing the handbrake on your bike.
On cars, manual parking brakes do the same thing as the brakes on a bicycle. The braking cables on the car run to the brake pads, or shoes, which squeeze against discs or drums. The wheel is then held firm.
The manual brake lever is held in place, keeping the tension on the cables until released.
Electronic parking brakes work the same way except an electronic system replaces the mechanical system. When you want to engage the parking brake, you press a switch. The switch sends an electrical signal to motors on each brake caliper. Those motors then squeeze the pads into the disc.
The electronic parking brake stays engaged until another signal tells the motors to release the pressure. In modern cars, this happens automatically when you start the car and drive off.
Which Cars Have Electronic Parking Brakes?
One of the first manufacturers to use electronic parking brakes was BMW. The BMW 7-Series and other models have moved to the more modern technology. Other European models have also made the switch from manual. Jaguar, Renault, Volkswagen, and Audi are just a few examples.
The Bad with the Good
What Happens If You Pull An Electronic Parking Brake While Driving? – Cleetus McFarland – YouTube
Electronic parking brakes do have their drawbacks. Without a diagnostic laptop, you cannot remove and change the pads. This means DIY home mechanics are probably out of luck. Instead of a quick trip to the local auto store, the cars with electronic parking brakes will need to visit a professional for replacement.
I’m also reminded of a time when my brakes failed, and I was able to navigate safely using my manual parking brake. Electronic brakes won’t allow for partial braking. It’s all or nothing. So there is that. (Note: It is best to avoid using the parking brake for full stopping, just for reference.)
Yet, as cars rely more and more on computers and electronics, it looks like the electronic parking brake is what we can expect on future models.
El Chapo – Picture in US Custody – Wikipedia Commons – EuroDrift
Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, the Mexican drug lord behind the Sinaloa Cartel, has quite a car collection. Looking beyond the current criminal investigation, El Chapo has great taste in European cars. But, truth be told, he has been a top drug kingpin since 2003. According to the US Department of Treasury, El Chapo is the “most powerful drug trafficker in the world.” With an estimated net worth of around $4 billion USD, any car could be his with a click of his fingers, kind of like Thanos… well maybe not exactly. Currently, El Chapo is imprisoned and awaiting trial in the US. Moving El Chapo to the US was important due to his history of escaping jail time. This happened in July of 2001 and July of 2015. So, obviously no chances were taken on this arrest.
El Chapo’s collection of vehicles includes quite an array of amazing Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Starting off with the shining gems, El Chap0 has a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren as well as a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. Phew! These two cars individually are enough to pull in dreamers, without the mention of the other. Furthermore, these cars sit alongside a Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. Driving just one of the vehicles listed above is a dream of many. With the cheapest car being a CLA45 AMG at a MSRP of $51k, these vehicles aren’t cheap. At the top end, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren ran around half a million USD. That’s more value than most homes in the US on average.
Next, El Chapo had quite a nice mini collection of Ducati motorcycles. First, there is the Ducati Monster. Secondly, there is a Ducati Hypermotard 1100. Both bikes offer great escape options in the event of a run. Or, they are also perfect for a cruise around town. Regardless, no one can go wrong with a Ducati bike.
Lastly, beyond the Corvette, GTR, and Viper, is an armored Volkswagen Jetta. Since this is a European website, the American cars will not be covered here. But, the armored VW Jetta will! So, why would El Chapo want an armored VW Jetta, a car that is already not that great? Well, it could be that it is inconspicuous. But, with that kind of net value, that Jetta may pack more under the hood than known. It would be no surprise if it wore a twin-turbo V8 with AWD, the perfect setup to escape. It may become a bit front heavy, but with some balancing and weight reductions, it could be an amazing getaway car.
The Verdict May Not Be Good… But the Cars Are!
Narcos | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix – YouTube
Overall, El Chapo is currently facing major jail time in the United States. This means there’s a very high chance that he will not escape again… but nobody truly knows. Although the verdict may not be good, the cars in his collection are amazing. Starting off with a collection of Benz vehicles, that alone is a non-standard set. Imagine waking up everyday to see those AMGs in the garage with two Ducatis and an armored VW Jetta. Furthermore, he had quite a collection of American cars as well including a few armored Jeeps. In the end, his car collection will arise the dreamers.

Worldwide, most gamers have knowledge about the infamous banana peel in Mario Kart. Although the banana attack could be quite devastating to others in the game, nobody tested it in the real world… at least until now. In August of 2018, the YouTube channel TheHoonigans went ahead and put the theory to the test. Instead of using a go-cart, the team uses a beautiful Audi RS5 coupe. To make it even more unique, the car has the well debated Sonoma Green Audi paintjob. The real question is… will the banana cause the RS5 to crash? Well, time to find out!
First, let’s take a moment to discuss the stunning Sonoma green B9 Audi RS5. With a MSRP of $70,875, this car sports a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. This engine produces 444 horsepower and 4443 lb.-ft. of torque. Furthermore, this motor works in combo with an 8-speed auto transmission. From 0 to 60 mph, the RS5 takes only 3.9 seconds. Furthermore, the RS5 can complete a quarter mile in only 12.4 seconds. Lastly, the top speed is 155 mph to 174 mph depending on the governor settings. But, if an aftermarket tune is purchased, that number will be left behind.
The Origins of the Banana Theory
Nintendo 64 Longplay Mario Kart 64 – World of Longplays – YouTube
In the year of 1992, Nintendo began the now worldwide famous Mario Kart series. The first game, Super Mario Kart, was available on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Not surprisingly, this game is the 4th best-selling SNES video game in the world with almost 9 million units sold. With the Mario Kart game, came the ability to “attack” opponents to slow them down. And no, this doesn’t mean shooting each other with rifles like Call of Duty. This means using attacks such as banana peels and turtle shells. The banana peel was an attack that is left behind by a person up front, or behind, for someone to hit during the current or future lap. Leaving behind a banana even left the opportunity for the peel dropper to run into it themselves. Lastly, just for note, the video above is gameplay from Mario Kart 64, the second video game in the overall series.
And The Results Are In!
Will Banana Peels Make a Car Spin Out?? Mario Kart IRL! – TheHoonigans – YouTube
Well, the results are here! With a ton of banana peels on the track, the Audi RS5 slid slightly more through the turn. But, the slide is nowhere near the level of Mario Kart. This theory could really be tested by simply using a RWD car, such as a BMW M4. With Quattro, the RS5 is basically cheating as it is specifically programmed to maneuver power between wheels to regain control as quickly as possible. Even with stability and traction off, the RS5’s AWD setup would simply benefit the car so. So, next time this is done, whoever it may be, please ensure a RWD car does the job. Although the RS5 is an amazing car, it doesn’t optimize the chances of confirming the Mario Kart banana theory.
For the 2018 Range Rover Sport, the company decided to take on the Dragon Challenge. The 2018 Range Rover Sport Dragon Challenge encompasses Tianmen Mountain Road in the Hunan Province of China. This road incorporates 99 hairpin turns on 7 miles of mountainside road. Usually, this road is strictly in use by ECO buses. Furthermore, to reach the summit, there is a 999-step staircase. This staircase leads to “Heaven’s Gate”, a natural rock arch in the mountainside. Mythically, this location is thought to be where the mortal world comes into contact with the world of the gods.
Specifications of the Range Rover Sport
2018 Range Rover Sport – Dragon Challenge – Tianmen Mountain Road – Land Rover Manufacturer Picture – EuroDrift
The 2018 Range Rover Sport Dragon Challenge requires quite the vehicle to complete. The 2018 Range Rover Sport SE starts at a price of $68,750. In this deal, a 3.0-liter motor is included that produces 254 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. This allows it to reach 60 mph in only 7.2 seconds. Furthermore, the Sport has a top speed of 130 mph. Finally, to optimize the hill climb, this car features different modes for functionality. These range from Terrain Response levels to Mud and Ruts mode.
Completing the Dragon Challenge

”The Dragon Challenge is the hardest challenge I’ve ever been involved with because I can’t categorically say that we will succeed.” – Phil Jones, Land Rover Experience Special Projects Expert
To complete the 2018 Range Rover Sport Dragon Challenge, the company decided to use driver Ho-Pin Tung. He is a Le Mans 24 Hours winner and driver for the Jaguar Formula E Racing team. The first step was to tackle Tianmen Mountain Road’s 7-miles of 99 hairpin turns. In Terrain Response 2 mode, the SUV maneuvers better, allowing to complete it with ease. But, that was not the major challenge. The largest challenge was tackling the 45-degree angle of the 999 step staircase to “Heaven’s Gate”. In Mud and Ruts mode, the Sport was able to accomplish this feat. This made the Range Rover Sport the first car that made it to “Heaven’s Gate” in only 22 minutes and 41 seconds.
Who Will Accomplish the Challenge Next?
Range Rover Sport | Dragon Challenge – Land Rover Deutschland – YouTube
After such a feat by Range Rover, it is only a certain amount of time before contenders step up to the plate. Obviously, this depends if China officials allow it to take place again. The 2018 Range Rover Sport Dragon Challenge is quite impressive, showing the capabilities of the SUV. With many different modes, the Sport can handle everything from hairpin turns to off-road adventures. Although it is a bit pricey, this car is definitely worth it for those who can afford it. The Maserati Levante was aimed at the Sports level of market, but probably can’t accomplish this type of feat. But, nobody truly knows, so maybe they should try it sometime. In conclusion, the 2018 Range Rover Sport is a beastly SUV showing the power of the Land Rover company.

“Everyone Who Drives Should Know How to Change Tires”
As my dad used to say, “everyone who drives should know how to change car tires.” Even though many people have some form of Roadside Assistance (such as BMW Subscription Service in Nashville), what happens if you don’t have a cell phone signal? Or, they can’t get there in a reasonable amount of time? What if you forgot to pay the renewal fee?
Head knowledge is good. Practice is even better. So, grab your tools and head out to your car. Someday you may be glad you did.
How to Change Car Tires in 10 Easy Steps
We already hinted at Step #1. Gather your tools.
Lug Wrench (we recommend a four-way)
Flashlight (for nighttime flats)
Safety Note: Move away from traffic as far as possible. Turn on your hazard lights and try to park on a flat paved surface. If you cannot change the tire safely, wait for help.
Steps 2-10: Changing the Flat
2. Place the wedges behind the tires on the side of the car that is opposite of the flat.
3. Loosen your lug nuts with the lug wrench but don’t remove them. You may need to pry off the hubcap.
4. Put the jack under the frame of the car (look for solid metal near the flat) and raise the car approximately 6 inches off the ground.
5. Remove all the lug nuts (don’t lose them!) in a criss-cross pattern, rather than clockwise or counter-clockwise.
6. Swap your spare for the flat tire.
7. Replace the lug nuts in a criss-cross pattern and snug them up using your hand only. Do not tighten them with the lug wrench!
8. Lower the jack until the spare is on the ground and remove the jack.
9. Tighten half of the lug nuts with the wrench. Tighten one, skip one, tighten the next, and so on until all of them are secure.
10. Drive to the nearest repair shop or home if it’s close. This is especially important if you have one of those small temporary spares. They are designed to get you to help, not for driving long distances.
A Word About Your Spare Tire
How to Change a Car Tire – HowtoBasic – YouTube
You need a spare in good condition and one that’s properly inflated. Each time you have your oil changed, make a point of checking your spare tire. You may also want to print out a copy of How to Change Car Tires 101 and put it with your car manual or jack.
Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition – Life-Size 1-to-1 Ratio – Front Corner – LEGO Manufacture Picture – EuroDrift
LEGO, known for typical store products as well as large-scale designs, has done it once again. This time, the LEGO Technic design team built a fully functional Bugatti Chiron. Yes, a LEGO automobile that is fully operational! Even furthermore, one that looks exactly like the Chiron sports car. This 1:1 model includes drive functionality via Power Function motor tech from standard LEGO products. Yes, those little electric motors work together to move a full-size vehicle! Although this car would most likely be highly unsafe at any speed, it is quite an amazing feat.
The Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition was a project given to the LEGO Technic team in Kladno, Czech Republic. Here, the LEGO Technic team works on complex models for LEGO stores and LEGOLAND parks. But, making a functional Chiron out of LEGOs was even a test for them. Beforehand, Aurelien Rouffiange and the rest of the design team recently completed a 1:8 scale Chiron for $349.99. So, it was time to step it up to the next level. With 16 specialists ranging from design to mechanical to electrical fields, this project was tackled with 13,438-man hours. Phew! That is quite an investment of labor and time!
The Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition includes over 1,000,000 LEGO Technic elements. This includes 339 different types of elements for the build. Surprisingly, absolutely no glue was used in the assembly process. With a total weight of 3,307 pounds (1500 kg), this weighs as much as an actual car! So, moving a car like this requires a lot of power, even for low speed.
“Under the hood”, the Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition has 2,304 Power Functions motors. Yes, it really does! Next, there are 4,032 LEGO Technic gear wheels. Furthermore, the car fits 2,016 LEGO Technic cross axles. Theoretically, the motors work together to produce around 5.3 horsepower. But, on the other hand, the torque equates to 68 lb.-ft. (92 Nm). That torque is how this vehicle gets going. To make it even more insane, the car has a functional rear spoiler and speedometer, both entirely of LEGOs.
An Engineering Feat for LEGO
The Amazing Life-size LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron that DRIVES! – LEGO – YouTube
Overall, the Bugatti Chiron LEGO Edition is quite an engineering feat. At the actual 1:1 scale, this car is quite the spectacle. With LEGO pieces in and out, no one expects to see it roll down the track. Although it may not be fast, it is functional. But, for everyone’s interest, these will not be sold due to liability. Life only knows how many people would try “stupid” stunts while driving one of these. For now, it is best to keep cars like this to the company itself. In conclusion, the LEGO Chiron is beautiful and deserves the utmost respect.
In 2018, a British tourist visiting Dubai was able to rack up over $47,000 (170,000 dirhams) in only 3 hours. On July 30th, the tourist went to a dealership to rent a Lamborghini Huracán. Then, on the next day, July 31st, the dealership began receiving notifications. These notices were for speed violations occurring between 2:30 AM and 6 AM in the morning. As expected, the entire situation has hurt the dealership.
The tourist violating the laws was simply acting unreasonably, so they should absolutely be responsible for these fines. Overall, the total sum of fines arrives at a hefty price of $47,643. In the end, hopefully this situation works out for the dealership, as the driver was solely responsible for his abuse of law.
Lamborghini Huracán Specifications
Lamborghini Huracan Coupe – Front Corner – Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017 – EuroDrift
While in Dubai, the British tourist figures renting a Lamborghini Huracán is a great option. While this may be a fantastic idea for many, some people can’t handle it. For instance, how about this guy? Maybe next time stick to the Kia or Toyota rental.
Overall, a Lamborghini Huracán isn’t a bad choice for a Dubai tourist. If driven reasonable, this car is built to impress. At a price of $353,919, this car is quite expensive. Costing as much as a small home, this car boasts a 5.2-liter V10 engine. This motor works in combo with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. On the power side, this car has 631 horsepower and 443 lb.-ft. of torque. This allows it to reach 60 mph in only 2.4 seconds. With a top speed of 201 mph, it is easy to see how this car can easily violate worldwide laws.
Breakdown of Violations
Dubai Police Vehicles – Front – Dubai, United Arab Emirates – EuroDrift
”He was driving at 230 and 240 kilometers per hour…” – Mohammed Ibrahim, Car Rental Business Owner
Overall, the Dubai tourist from the UK broke quite a few laws in the UAE. Firstly, the driver received 12 speeding violations. This amounts to $19,057 (70,000 dirham) simply for speeding. Next, the cost of obtaining the car from impoundment was $28,585 (105,000 dirhams). In a combination, this amounts to $47,643 in expenses.
According to reports, this car was spotted speeding at 149 mph (240 km/h) by 33 radars on Sheikh Zayed Road. This road is one of the busiest in Dubai, so speed detectors are an expectation, especially in the sports car “capitol”. This driver was over the limit by 62 mph (100 km/h) at the max allowed speed. The base rule for the road is 75 mph (120 km/h), but the road allows up to 87 mph (140 km/h). In many countries, this will lead to imprisonment on top of losing a license. Although, the Dubai police fleet is quite amazing itself, including Lamborghinis. So, getting away from Dubai police would be quite difficult.
This Entire Fiasco is Preposterous
British tourist racks up $47,000 worth of speeding fines in Dubai – Global1 News Network – YouTube
Currently, the UAE law has a fine for exceeding 50 mph (80 km/h) set to $816.70 (3,000 dirhams). On top of this, the driver obtains 23 black points and a 60-day car confiscation. So, unfortunately, the business has taken the biggest hit from this person’s pursuit of speed. This Dubai tourist is simply in the wrong and should be treated in that manner. Although views around the world are different, a business owner shouldn’t be held responsible for another person’s sole actions. This simply doesn’t make sense, so put the blame on the tourist. Lastly, just to note, reports seem to indicate the tourist settled the fines after being stuck in the UAE due to it. In conclusion, this Dubai tourist doesn’t represent how anyone should act abroad.

Recently, in the auto news industry, rumors are spreading about the successor of the Agera. The name is believed to be from a “reliable source close to Koenigsegg”, according to The Supercar Blog. This name is the Koenigsegg Ragnarok. Unrelating, this may strike a reminder to the Thor: Ragnarok film that hit theatres in 2017 with slightly over $850 million in worldwide revenue. Just a quick reminder, this is the film where Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in protecting against the destruction of the gods and world. Furthermore, the word “Ragnarok” translates to “the Doom of the Gods” in old Norse. During this event, the mythical cycle ends, and the cosmos is destroyed, then recreation takes place. So, with a name like this, the Koenigsegg Ragnarok should rattle the hypercar realm.
An Expectation of Performance Figures
“We’re talking 0 to 250 mph in 14 seconds or something like this. It’s like, black marks all the way up to 250 mph.” – Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder & CEO of Koenigsegg (During Interview with Top Gear)
Under the hood, the Koenigsegg Ragnarok will most likely sport the twin-turbo V8 seen in the Agera RS, but even better. The horsepower range will be around 1,400, at least 40 over the Agera RS that could reach almost 278 mph at top speed. Now, prepare yourself to be taken back by the expected performance. Koenigsegg wants the Ragnarok to reach 250 mph in only 14 seconds, leaving rubber the entire way behind. With the combination of a V8, 23 psi boost from the turbo, and a ratio of 8.8:1 instead of 9.5:1, this car could feed 32 psi for an instant 600 horsepower boost. Phew! That’s one hell of a performance. Honestly, hopefully it will happen as it is true insanity for a production vehicle of any type. With this car, Koenigsegg hopes to hold back the Tesla Roadster’s advantages.
Targets Set on the Tesla Roadster
Tesla Roadster – Front Corner in Motion – Manufacturer Picture – EuroDrift
“We kind of had our future mapped out, and then we heard about the new Tesla Roadster and its insane acceleration numbers, and we thought ‘damn, that’s put the gauntlet down. We thought, ‘this is not okay’”. – Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder & CEO of Koenigsegg (During Interview with Top Gear)
Recently, Christian von Koenigsegg, the CEO and founder of Koenigsegg, spoke to Top Gear about the Tesla Roadster. Initially, Koenigsegg didn’t truly believe the performance expectations for the Tesla. But, unfortunately, Elon Musk wasn’t lying when we spoke of the insane acceleration in the Roadster. Now, the Koenigsegg Ragnarok will most likely be Koenigsegg’s attempt to strike back.
“We wondered whether it was possible, and yeah, it’s possible. Then we thought, ‘okay how do we deal with it? This is embarrassing.’ In two days we’d thought of a few things. The simplest way of putting it is like this: it’s combining direct drive with the hybridization we have in a different format with Freevalve engine technology, in a peculiar layout.” – Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder & CEO of Koenigsegg (During Interview with Top Gear)
After refocusing energy from the already planned future, to a new future, Koenigsegg believes to have found a way to do it. Koenigsegg plans to use a combustion engine, versus an electric setup, to compete with the Roadster. This doesn’t make it direct competition, but it is close enough being in the same hypercar class. Their goal is to use direct drive with hybridization. Next, it’ll include Freevalve engine tech in a specific layout. Not being extremely detailed, Koenigsegg teased at this during the interview as seen above. Now, it is somewhat an expectation that the Koenigsegg Ragnarok will be the new frontier.
Koenigsegg is “Just Scratching the Surface”
IN DEPTH: Koenigsegg Factory Tour with Christian von Koenigsegg – Shmee150 – YouTube
“What we see with our engines, we’ve noticed that we’re just scratching the surface of what we can achieve.” – Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder & CEO of Koenigsegg (During Interview with Top Gear)
According to Christian von Koenigsegg, the company is “just scratching the surface”. With the Koenigsegg Ragnarok, the auto industry will rattle from the wrath of power. Although nothing is truly known, the car will display at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March of 2019. At this show, the world will see the future of the hypercar realm. If the power figures are true, this is an Earth car fit for Thor, maybe somewhat of what he’d expect in Asgard. In conclusion, the Koenigsegg Ragnarok’s name may, or may not, be correct, but the car will be a beast.
Note: There are no pictures of the “Ragnarok” currently available. The main picture for the post is of the Koenigsegg Regera. Thanks for understanding!
As life moves into the future, brands such as Mercedes-Benz are attempting to shape the way for humanity. Recently, the Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic was shown to the public. The Urbanetic is an autonomous van concept that runs on battery-electric. The purpose of this vehicle is to help reduce congestion via a 24/7 runtime for passenger hauling services. With the Urbanetic, Mercedes aims to contribute to a whole new segment of mobility. This includes a capacious, comfortable, efficient, and sustainable design. But, this car, truly begins its prowess from its battery-electric platform.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic begins with its battery-electric platform. This system is the way of the future and provides green commuting accessibility. With a battery system, the car can run on a regular schedule, simply charging every time it is necessary. As battery-operated vehicles become more popular, the battery charging time has dissipated. Recently, the all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron made its debut as a sports car to charge in 15 minutes flat via 800-volts. Obviously, quick charging will be necessary to make this van concept worthy of transportation purposes. But, even furthermore, is the fact this car can alternate between cargo and people-moving within minutes.
With the Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic, the functionality can be altered for multiple purposes. This begins with a cargo-van functionality option. The rear of the van can provide 353 cubic feet of space. This allows for 10 pallets at once, obviously wit the help of 12-feet of load space. So, this van can handle traditional cargo transport as well as last-minute deliveries. But, this isn’t the only way the space can be allocated for usage. Not surprisingly, this car also features a people-moving function as well.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic not only allows for cargo usage, but also people transport. With the large allotment of space in the rear, this vehicle can handle up to 12 people. Furthermore, this car keeps in mind the pedestrians outside of the vehicle. On the front and sides, this car lets civilians know that the vehicle is aware of their presence. This allows bystanders to feel comfortable crossing in front of the vehicle at an intersection. So, while keeping passengers comfy, it is also keeping pedestrians safe. It won’t be surprising in the future when services such as “Uber Pool” end up providing a Urbanetic-style van to transport people at cheap rates.
Autonomy & Electric are the Future
Mercedes-Benz Vision URBANETIC: Mobility for Urban Areas – Mercedes-Benz – YouTube
As the Mercedes-Benz Vision Urbanetic shows, autonomy and electric motors are the future. From the Audi PB18 e-tron to the Vision Urbanetic, manufacturers are moving forward to the next stage of auto engineering. Initially, Tesla led the way for worldwide companies, but now everyone is joining in on the action. What was once a quiet, unsure market, is now the way for all. The sound of the motor may be missed, but will still be available, as gasoline cars will most likely never be fully outlawed. Regardless, transportation will become efficient and reasonable moving forward. One day, these type of vehicles will rotate major cities, running passengers to destinations far and wide.

In October of 2017, Fabspeed held an open house and exotic car meet event in eastern PA. The Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017 was quite the success. Starting in the morning, vehicles of all types rolled into the event, ranging from BMWs to even a 2017 Ford GT. Fabspeed is an exotic car performance specialist company in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Here, Fabspeed offers aftermarket parts for high-end exotic cars, including Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, and more. While the car meet took place outside, Fabspeed held an open house at the same time, allowing enthusiasts to venture through the 26,000 square foot facility. In this building, Fabspeed contains a manufacturing facility as well as a showroom. Portions of the yearly event include food, live dyno runs, and tech talks.

At the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017, Porsche enthusiasts were in full force. With a large amount of the parking lot full of Porsche sports cars, many other manufacturers still made a presence. The car with the most attention was a 2017 Ford GT. Although this car is not a European vehicle, it is quite the spectacle. Inside out, the Ford GT shines “bright like a diamond”. Furthermore, a McLaren 650S Liberty Walk welcomed guests at the front, being the only one in existence. At first, the car threw us off as it reminded us of the P1. So, we initially thought we were looking at one… that was until we were informed it was a modded 650S. Regardless, this car provides quite the welcome. Finally, EuroPrestige Motors was kind enough to bring out an Alfa Romeo 4C. This car is rarely seen stateside, mostly due to Alfa’s lack of marketing the 4C in the United States.

On the Porsche side, the vehicles ranged from a custom Cayman S to 911 classics to GT3 models. Many Porsche 911 GT3s graced the parking lot, including the additional one on the dyno. Furthermore, in support of McLaren, a MP4-12C Spider made an appearance as well. Guests were event fortunate enough to witness a Lotus Seven, not a typical vehicle at most car meets. There are a few other vehicles to mention, but that will be in the next section.

During the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017, Fabspeed was kind enough to put a Porsche 911 GT3 on the dyno. This car had a Fabspeed long tube competition race header package… and phew, it was loud! Roaring on the dyno, the epic sound echoed through the facility, bothering ear drums throughout. The best way to see this was with ear plugs, as without, it actually kind of hurt. Driving a car this loud down the road would attract a lot of attention, and possibly the bad kind. Whether this car’s sound is road legal, doesn’t mean it was bad. The car sounds fantastic, like the GT3 beast it is.

2017 Ford GT – Side in Motion – Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017 – EuroDrift
Although the Fabspeed Open House & Exotic Car Meet 2017 is almost a year past, that means there may be an upcoming event in one month (October 2018). So, there’s no reason to be upset. Considering the outcome of the previous event, the next one can only be better. With a large amount of auto enthusiasts in southeastern PA, the cars don’t disappoint. And, absolutely, EuroDrift would love to attend another Fabspeed event. Fabspeed offers high quality engineering for high-end exotic vehicles, making the meets quite unique. Witnessing these cars in person is well worth the venture here from areas around the mid-state area.
