The Official Name for the Mission E
Recently, the Porsche Mission E concept received an official production name. The Mission E will be for sale as the Porsche Taycan. To resolve confusion, Taycan loosely translates to “lively young horse” in the Eurasian language. This statement references to “the imagery at the heart of the Porsche crest, which has featured a leaping steed since 1952.” (Reference: Porsche News Release – See Below) On top of this, the Taycan was recently seen testing in the U.S. This is not surprisingly as sales begin in 2019.
Porsche Taycan Specifications
The Porsche Taycan, previously the Mission E, is a fully electric 4-seater sport sedan. Being fully electric, this car sports two permanent magnet synchronous motors (PSMs). These motors work in combo to produce over 600 horsepower. Furthermore, the Taycan uses a 800 V charging system for optimal battery management. From 0 to 60 mph, the Taycan will take around 3.5 seconds. This is very quick for a sedan and is sure to fulfill the needs of many auto enthusiasts. The only downfall to the Taycan is the lack of a roaring V8 engine… but that doesn’t mean scheisse.
The Porsche Taycan Aims at Tesla

Not surprisingly, the Porsche Taycan will take aim at the Tesla auto market. Being a fully electric sedan, this car will challenge the Model S. But, nobody knows how this car will truly impact the electric auto market just yet. Many Porsche fans will be stuck in a debate of enjoying the Porsche V6 of V8 engine versus the new electric system. Although the car definitely doesn’t lack in performance, it does lack in sound. In conclusion, the Porsche Taycan will signal the openness of the worldwide market to fully electric European cars.
